WE UNDERSTAND THAT SELECTING A
PRE-SCHOOL IS AN IMPORTANT DECISION
Whether it's your first child or maybe your fourth we understand that selecting a pre-school is an important decision. Our setting is available to everyone from all sections of the local community, regardless of their social standing, ethnic background or religious beliefs. Each individual is respected, valued and will, in turn, be encouraged to respect and value others.
We have cateorgised the information we feel is important below and hope you find it useful, however you are more than welcome to visit and see our wonderful pre-school first hand. Furthermore we would be delighted to email you an information pack.
We arrange our waiting list by taking the following elements into account:
the vicinity of the home
the length of time on waiting list
Please complete a registration document and
the fee of £30 should be made to St Lawrence Pre-School using our bank details which can be found on this form.

In addition to 'Stay and Play'
we have an 'All About Me' document that we work through together so we can learn as much as possible about each child. If families have any special requests, activities or events that they would like their child to take part in then we encourage parents to ask and we will incorporate them into our plans.
We have a t-shirt which offer you a preschool uniform. Two t-shirts are provided as part of your registration fee. Additional t-shirt can be purchased. In the summer months we insist children's shoulders are kept covered for sun safety reasons.
Each child has learning journal and the assigned key person will work with the parents or carers to keep this record updated. The profile helps to celebrate together each of the child’s achievements and allows us to work together to provide for their well-being and to further their individual development.
At St Lawrence Pre-School we aim to ensure the needs of each individual child are met, taking into account any Special Educational Needs (SEN)
and English as an additional language (EAL) a child may have. We work in line with the requirements of the 2011 Education Act and The Special Educational Needs Code of Practice (2015).
Our SEN co-ordinator is Mary.
DISCIPLINE & BEHAVIOUR
The staff lead the children’s behaviour by setting a positive example. We encourage them to interact positively and offer support as and where necessary, giving thorough explanation and guidance to each child.
Together with the children we drew up a set of St Lawrence Laws. They cover areas such as being polite, kind and helpful.
Water is always readily available and at snack time we offer the children milk as well as a choice of fruit, vegetables plus a carbohydrate such as crackers, bread or crumpets. We encourage the children to have a selection. If children are staying for lunch, they bring their own packed lunch in a named lunchbox. We ask that parents please provide a healthy lunch in-keeping with our Healthy Food Policy.
St Lawrence Pre-School has a duty under the law to help safeguard children against suspected or actual ‘significant harm’. Our employment procedures ensure all staff undergo thorough suitability checks. We aim to work with families to ensure we are aware of any problems that may emerge and we can offer support to families in difficulty.
